Environmental sustainability is a core component of our organisational mission and our operational planning. There are a number of areas where Command51 operations impact the environment potentially including air, waste, water and noise pollution, and impacts on flora and fauna. All Command51 operations managers are expected to identify the aspects and impacts of their operations on the environment including the wider environment and community.
Our implementation of sustainability measures is documented and monitored through the business planning process or the strategic Environmental Management Plan specific to each contract. These control measures are applied and incorporated as appropriate into the pre-start risk assessment and JSA/SWMS process. The effectiveness of control measures is subject to review through the scheduled internal audit process, and the Aspects and Impacts Register is subject to ongoing and scheduled reviews to ensure that any new or introduced environmental impacts are progressively identified and controlled.
To achieve our vision for sustainable growth that is in harmony with our environmental goals, we will:
→ ensure compliance with environmental acts, regulations, by-laws and industry standards;
→ include environmental considerations in business planning and continually improve our environmental performance;
→ continually seek efficiencies in the use of resources, including energy, chemicals, water, packaging and other materials;
→ reduce, re-use and recycle waste products wherever practicable;
→ invest in renewable energy creation by expanding our solar network;
→ direct our efforts towards achieving carbon neutrality through policies of greenhouse gas reduction and abatement;
→ implement procedures and systems to check, review and disclose our company’s environmental performance;
→ provide the necessary training to employees and communication with all stakeholders to meet our environmental goals;
→ work collaboratively with our customers and governments to improve environmental performance and business sustainability;
→ prevent pollution and minimise our impact on the environment and the communities in which we operate.
It’s the identification of these kinds of significant changes that exist within the marketplace that drives our team. Our desire to continually improve in the area of sustainability and support resources that reduce the impact of our cleaning efforts on the world knows no bounds.
Command51 actively seeks out opportunities to reduce our impact on the environment. We do so by not only endeavouring to use environmentally friendly chemicals, materials and energy efficient equipment, we also look outside the box and have begun transitioning our fleet of company owned vehicles to hybrid models (our Client Service Manager in FNQ currently drives a Subaru VX). All our CTP Green Slips are purchased through Greenslips4Earth (see link below), further reducing our carbon footprint.
