Our Vision for Reconciliation
We envision a society where reconciliation is woven into the fabric of everyday life, where understanding, respect and unity among all Australians contribute to the equal actualisation of the potential of all people. We will engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and individuals in promoting cultural awareness and understanding, in creating sustainable employment opportunities and pathways for career development for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait artists, businesses and community initiatives through procurement and partnership opportunities.
Cultural Education and Awareness
Command51’s approach prioritises cultural education and awareness, with each action thoughtfully designed to reflect our values and integrity. Our planning deliberately makes space for Indigenous artists, teachers and workers to create original initiatives, artworks and programs that inform our self-understanding as a company and help education and elevate the public. Our initiatives will strengthen and deepen our connections with Indigenous people and organisations, promote awareness of NAIDOC week and RAP week, while informing our people, clients and visitors about Indigenous art, heritage and culture.
Tangible Steps to Reconciliation
We are committed to taking initiatives that make genuine contributions to closing the gap in Indigenous well-being and success. We have developed a strategy to increase our employment of Indigenous people and our engagement with Indigenous businesses and organisations, creating measurable and meaningful contributions to the Indigenous communities we live and work among.
Artwork
“Uthalla Nungulla Yuruin” (“Eagle Hawk To See Pathways”) by Lane Brookes. Lane is a Mandandanji man, living and operating his business ‘Deadly Way’ on Country in Roma. Lane writes: “This artwork reflects the story of Command 51 as a leader within the space as the eagle who flies over the land. They can see the full picture along with smaller details of what’s on the floor of the bush such as animals, plants and opportunities.”
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land, and pay our respects to the Elders past, present and future, who represent a continuing cultural heritage and relationship with land, waters and communities of this land, and we look forward to walking with them into a better future for all.
